Pure Trek’s community organizing and fundraising… |
|
“Las Huellas de un Costa Rica unico” Keeping Costa Rica's culture alive…
Our yearly fundraiser street festival.
We created this cultural street festival 4 years ago with the idea of awakening the culture of Costa Rica. We also wanted to bring the community together for the same cause, to give. So we thought we would make it 2 fold, cultural and raise money for the community with the sales of authentic Costa Rican food cooked fresh and hot in stands all along the street in downtown La Fortuna. We wanted the whole community of La Fortuna to be involved, from the smallest company to the grandest hotel, and that’s what we did together…all of us.
The first year it was a 1 day festival and we sold tickets from c100, c500 and c1000 (from the equivalent of 50cents to 2 dollars) and raised over $4000.00. All the money went to 9 special need families from La Fortuna for school clothes and supplies for all the children. The second year we raised as a community, over $6000.00 in 2 days and the money went to the local day care center for working mothers. They were able to re build much of the center, it was amazing. This last year, the 3rd year, the money went to the local recycling center. It is run by 2 strong and persistent Costa Rican women and with the over $8000.00 we raised for them they were able to 2 machines that were desperately needed. This year, 2010, we are continuing with the focus on the recycling center, there is much more to be done.
This has become a tradition for all of us that live here or own a business or work for one. We hope to continue it long into the future of La Fortuna. |

Hábitat para la Humanidad – Costa Rica
We are proud to be a part of this wonderful International organization, here in Costa Rica. We have been working hard together with Habitad since the first street festival, Las Huellas de un Costa Rica unico. One of the 9 special needs families really stood out to them and with a lot of patience, determination and hard work we were able to get a house donated to this family! We are honored to work hand in hand with

Costa Rica Real Living
This experience will give you a peek at what Costa Rican people live like. We take you to a small community just outside of La Fortuna where you meet the humble town people; eat fresh homemade Costa Rican food and deserts. See what an old Costa Rican style house looked like, how they lived and how they eat. Watch a folkloric dance and make your own sugar cane juice using an old fashioned “trapiche” , the best way to make it! All the profits are donated to the community to re build houses, re build the community center and so much more.
